Innovation Scholarship Essay Contest – General Rules

Students will submit a creative submission on the identified topic along with a 300-word paragraph nominating an inspiring teacher.

The contest is open to high school juniors and seniors and students currently enrolled in two-year or four-year colleges, universities and technical colleges in the United States. Students who are 17 years or younger will need to provide parental consent to enter.

Each student should submit a creative entry, a teacher nomination in a word document (pdf, doc, jpg, png, mv4, avi wav, mp3), along with a digital photo (jpg or png) of yourself and your name, school and phone number via the submission form on the main scholarship page.

Six winning entries will be selected based on the creativity and originality of the submission. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.

The deadline for entering the 2019 scholarship contest is December 1.

Depending on the volume of submissions, Herrman & Herrman, P.L.L.C. may impose a cutoff at which time no additional applications will be accepted. If you are interested in taking part, you should enter the contest as soon as possible.

Six winners will be selected including three (3) students from Texas and three (3) students from throughout the United States. The winners in each category shall receive awards of $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second place and $1,000 for third place. The teachers nominated by the two 1st place winners will receive $1,000 prizes. The number of prizes may be changed at the sole discretion of the judges.

By accepting a prize, the winners grant Herrman & Herrman the right to edit, publish, display, distribute and otherwise make use of the creative submission in connection with this contest and to use their names and biographical information for marketing purposes.

All applicable federal, state and local taxes on prizes will be the sole responsibility of the award recipients.

The winners will be announced on or about December 21, 2019.

Decisions of the judges are final.

By taking part in the scholarship contest, contestants agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Herrman & Herrman, P.L.L.C., its managers, members, directors, officers, and employees from and against any and all liability and costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, associated with taking part in this contest or the acceptance, or use of prizes. Under no circumstances shall Herrman & Herrman, P.L.L.C., its directors, officers, and employees be liable to the contestant for indirect, punitive, special or consequential damages.

Employees of Herrman & Herrman, P.L.L.C, their board of directors and immediate families are not eligible to enter this scholarship contest.
