HARLINGEN, TX – Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are looking into the cause of a collision that took the life of a Brownsville woman Tuesday morning.
According to Valley Central, the single-vehicle crash occurred along I-69E just north of Lyford shortly before 11 a.m.
Investigators believe the unidentified male driver failed to maintain a single lane and careened off the west side of the roadway. He immediately overcorrected causing the vehicle to roll over and eject a female passenger.
The passenger, who has been identified as 39-year-old Leilani Rose Nicely, was rushed to Valley Baptist Medical Center where she died a short time later. The driver was also transported to the hospital where he is in stable condition as of Wednesday evening.
