Drunk driver crashes on SH-48

BROWNSVILLE, TX – A drunk driver sustained serious injuries on Tuesday morning after crashing his Acura in a single-vehicle accident.

The Brownsville Police Department reported that a 50-year-old man crashed his 2005 Blue Acura at approximately 2:43 a.m. on June 23. The Acura was weaving between lanes as it drove down Highway 48 near East Price Road. The driver crashed the Acura, causing severe damage to the front end of the vehicle.

Police officers report that the driver sustained severe injuries during the accident. However, they do not believe his injuries were life-threatening.

The driver is facing multiple charges after the accident, including DWI, carrying a handgun without a license, driving without a license, and driving without insurance.
