Elderly driver crashes on South Bridge Street

HIDALGO, TX – A 74-year-old man crashed his Chrysler into a Kia on Monday while backing up on South Bridge Street near East Flora Avenue.

At approximately 1:06 p.m. on May 11, a black 2015 Chrysler hit a green 2013 Kia as the Chrysler’s driver was moving in reverse. An officer from the Alamo Police Department reports that the 74-year-old man was backing up at an unsafe time, which caused the accident.

The Chrysler’s rear-end hit the passing Kia’s front bumper. Both vehicles sustained minimal damage from the crash. Neither car required tow-truck assistance to leave the scene after the incident.

Neither the Chrysler’s driver nor the Kia’s driver sustained injuries in the accident. A 69-year-old woman riding in the Chrysler’s passenger seat was also uninjured in the crash.

The police determined that the Chrysler was at fault in the accident.
