Police close 4 lanes of S Padre Island Dr following 4-vehicle crash

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A multi-vehicle collision closed down the part of S Padre Island Dr near Ayers St Wednesday night, according to KRIS-TV.
A CCPD arrived at the scene of a 2-vehicle collision around 8:40 p.m. The officer turned on his emergency lights and exited his vehicle when a third car plowed into the rear of a fourth vehicle, pushing it into the rear of the officer’s car.

Additional officers were called in following the wreck and they shut down the exit ramps on S Padre Island Dr between Weber Rd and Ayers St.

Police say they will cite the driver of the vehicle that started the chain-reaction crash.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the collision.
