2 killed in wrong-way crash in Edinburg

EDINBURG, TX – Two people were killed in a wrong-way collision on Highway 281 on Sunday morning, KRGV reports.

Police say the crash happened in the 900 block 281 just after 5:40 a.m., when a blue Nissan Sentra traveling south in the northbound lanes collided head-on with a silver Chevy Volt.

The 41-year-old man driving the Sentra died at the scene, while the 31-year-old driver of the Chevy was taken to DHR Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash. They do not know if alcohol was a factor at this time.
