2-vehicle collision injures 2 on I-35

LAREDO, TX – According to LMT, an adult woman and a girl were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the 5300 block of I-35 near Mall del Norte Monday.

Jose De Jesus Solorzano Lopez was driving a Ford F-750 work truck when he rear-ended a Nissan Rogue stalled out in the middle lane. The impact sent the Rogue into the highway divider.

The two occupants of the Rogue, Ana Delia Arriaga, 53, and Ixatlali Anahli Moreno, 12, were trapped in the vehicle until emergency crews arrived at around 4:45 p.m. Crews transported Arriaga to an area hospital. Moreno was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition.

Police do not believe impairment played a role in the collision. Solorzano Lopez gave authorities a blood sample to be examined at the Texas Department of Public Safety crime lab.

The incident is under investigation by the Crash Team division of the LPD and the Crimes Against Persons Unit.
