5 hospitalized after wrong-way crash in Edinburg

EDINBURG, TX – Five people were sent to the hospital following a wrong-way collision involving three vehicles early Saturday morning, My RGV reports.

The crash took place on May 22nd at about 76 a.m. as the 17-year-old driver of a Ford Fusion was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Monte Cristo Road.

Police say the Fusion crashed head-on into a Ford F-150 pickup truck, then struck a Dodge Caravan.

The juvenile responsible for the crash was rushed to DHR Edinburg in critical condition. Three occupants in the F-150 were taken to McAllen Medical Center. The driver of the Dodge was also hospitalized in unknown condition.

It is unclear whether intoxication played a role in the crash.
