Injury reported after collision near Leonel Trevino Elementary School

HIDALGO, TX – The Texas Highway Patrol responded to a collision on San Felipe Street early Tuesday morning that left one person injured.

The incident occurred at about 6:17 a.m. within the 2900 block of San Felipe Street, near the intersection with San Martin Street.

Police believe the 47-year-old male driver of a 1994 Ford fell asleep behind the wheel and collided head-on with a 2007 Chevrolet. The man in the Ford was reportedly injured as a result of the crash. However, the extent of his injuries has not yet been made available.
