News: Crash during police chase near Mission leaves man comatose

SAN JUAN, TX – KGRV and My RGV report that doctors induced a man into a coma following a collision caused by a police chase at Nebraska St and Express 83 Tuesday.

Police began pursuing Samuel Martinez, 21, around 5 a.m. Martinez’s truck slammed into a vehicle driven by Enrique Rodriguez, 19, a short time later as Rodriguez was heading home from work.

According to law enforcement, Martinez fled the accident scene on foot and has since escaped to Mexico. He currently faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, evading in a motor vehicle, accident involving injury, and evading on foot.

Authorities are urging anyone with information concerning Martinez’s whereabouts to contact them immediately.
