School Bus Catches Fire Near McAllen

LA JOYA, TX — On Monday afternoon near the intersection of Moorefield Road and Maxine Drive, a La Joya ISD school bus caught fire.

Nine children were inside when the school bus started burning. Thanks to the quick action of the bus driver all nine children were safely removed from the bus before it erupted into flames.

Pictures reveal catastrophic damage to the school bus. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. According to KRGV, police believe the fire to have resulted from a mechanical issue though the specific cause is unknown.
