Update: Victims of wrong-way crash in Edinburgh identified

EDINBURG, TX – Authorities have identified the two people killed in Sunday’s wrong-way crash in north Edinburgh, KRGV reports.

This post updates our earlier reporting.

The fatal accident happened at about 5:30 a.m. on June 27. Alex Jaramillo, 20, was driving south in the northbound lanes of Highway 281 when his blue Nissan Sentra collided head-on with a silver Chevrolet Bolt in the highway’s 900 block.

Jramillo died at the scene. A passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

Emergency responders rushed the driver of the Volt to an area hospital, where he later died. He has been identified as Efrain Guerrero Jr, 31.
