RIO GRANDE CITY, TX – A large Mesquite tree fell into the road during a severe thunderstorm on Friday night and blocked all southbound traffic on FM 755.
At 11:37 p.m. on May 8, the TxDot Pharr District twitter account reported the fallen tree. A Starr County Sheriff arrived at the scene on FM 755 near FM 2294 to investigate and address the road hazard.
An officer reported the tree had been moved out of the road and was no longer a hazard to drivers at 12:36 a.m. on May 9. However, the storm continued to cause significant flooding on the road near FM 2294.
The police did not report any accidents related to the fallen tree or the storm. However, they advised everyone in the area to avoid driving during the storm, due to road hazards and the increased risk of a serious accident.
