21-year-old woman killed in I-35 collision involving 4 vehicles

SCHERTZ, TX – Investigators with the Schertz Police department have reported a single-fatality resulting from a violent chain of events along I-35 Saturday night.

According to KSAT, a Nissan Rogue ran into a disabled Volkswagen Jetta within the 21500 block of I-35 at about 10:51 p.m.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 21-year-old Karla Barraza, was standing in the front of her vehicle when the force of the impact threw her into the northbound lanes of travel. She was then struck by another oncoming vehicle.

A fourth vehicle then crashed into the Nissan, causing it to push the Volkswagen into traffic where it was struck again by a Chevrolet Z71. The man in the Nissan, 26-year-old Amankumar Patel was evaluated by paramedics and released from the scene.

No charges have been filed as a result of the crash at this time.
