SAN ANTONIO, TX – Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision on I-410 in October, San Antonio Express-News reports.
On October 18th, Benito Almaguer III, 43, was driving a Ford F-150 when he struck the right rear of a Chevrolet Trailblazer, sending it crashing into the center concrete median. Almaguer then fled the scene.
One occupant of the Trailblazer, Juan Escamilla Jr., 55, died at the scene from head trauma. The other three people inside the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Police used witness statements and video footage captured at the scene to locate Almaguer’s vehicle. They found him in the parking lot of the Colonnade shopping center on I-10 underneath his truck fixing a flat tire. He has been arrested and is currently held on a $35,000 bond.
