Juvenile suspect hospitalized after San Antonio truck theft, crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A juvenile suspect was taken to the hospital in serious condition Tuesday night after they stole a truck, ran over a girl, then led police on a chase through San Antonio’s South Side.

According to My San Antonio, the incident was reported at around 8:30 p.m., when the suspect stole a pickup truck from a house within the 1900 block of Cupples Road. When a teenage girl attempted to stop the unidentified suspect, she was run over and suffered a broken leg.

An SAPD officer attempted to stop the vehicle after spotting the suspect driving erratically on Roselawn Road. The officer chased the vehicle for several blocks to the intersection of Byrnum Avenue and then onto West Military Drive.

The individual then made a turn into the oncoming lanes of Old Pearsall Road, where they collided head-on with an SAPD officer in an SUV, ending the pursuit.

The driver was rushed to University Hospital to be treated for potentially life-threatening injuries. The officer was also taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Details regarding their conditions remain unknown as of this writing.
