Police arrest alleged impaired hit-and-run driver for February crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Authorities have arrested a man concerning a hit-and-run crash at FM 78 and Foster Rd in February, KSAT reports.

According to police, Jerrardo Jerrardo Hinojoza-Rueda, 31, drank a half bottle of liquor and four beers before entering his vehicle. Hinojoza-Rueda then got into his GMC Yukon and proceeded to drive southbound of FM 78. As Hinojoza-Rueda approached Foster Rd, he collided with a Kia Soul. The impact pushed the Yukon into oncoming traffic, where it hit a Cadillac CTS head-on.

The Cadillac was occupied by a family of four. They were all taken to the hospital. Three of the four victims suffered bones. Two of the occupants were children, a boy and a girl.

Hinojoza-Rueda exited through the rear seat of the Yukon because the crash blocked the driver’s seat. He then spoke to a police officer and gave the officer his license before fleeing on foot while the officer was distracted by talking to a firefighter.

A passenger in Hinojoza-Rueda’s Yukon informed officers that Hinojoza-Rueda had drunk multiple alcoholic beverages before driving. Officers investigated the incident and found out Hinojoza-Rueda went by numerous names.

Authorities arrested Hinojoza-Rueda on Wednesday.
