1 dead, 6 hospitalized after wrong-way crash in Edinburg

EDINBURG, TX – One man was killed and six other people were transported to the hospital following a wrong-way crash early Tuesday morning.

According to Valley Central, the incident took place as 29-year-old Tyrone Amos was traveling in the oncoming lanes of traffic at about 4:30 a.m. in the 16000 block of North Expressway 281.

Amos collided head-on with a pickup truck in the southbound lanes of the freeway. Three other vehicles then became involved in the chain-reaction crash.

The driver of one of the three additional vehicles, 27-year-old Victor Bazan Jr., was killed in the crash. Six other individuals, including Amos, were hospitalized with varying injuries.

Amos has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
