Alton police on the scene of rear-end collision

ALTON, TX – Officers with the Alton Police Department responded to a multi-vehicle collision southwest of downtown Saturday evening.

The incident was reported at about 7:55 p.m. within the 100 block of West Saint Francis Avenue near the intersection with South Maryland Street.

Police believe the 22-year-old man behind the wheel of a 2015 Chrysler was speeding when he collided with the rear of a 2020 Nissan.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a direct result of the collision. However, the Chrysler sustained significant damage and was towed away from the scene.
