Distracted driver causes crash on US-181

PORTLAND, TX – On Wednesday afternoon, a distracted driver crashed into a Dodge while traveling on U.S. Highway 181.

The Portland Police Department reported that the accident occurred at approximately 12:53 p.m. on June 24.  The vehicles were traveling on US-181 near Northshore Boulevard when the collision occurred. A 58-year-old man driving a white 2013 Ford rear-ended a blue 2003 Dodge.

The 57-year-old man driving the Dodge suffered no injuries from the accident. However, his vehicle sustained moderate damage to the right rear bumper.

Neither the Ford driver nor the 22-year-old front passenger was injured in the collision.

Police officers on the scene report that the Ford driver caused the accident while driving distracted.
