Driver hits, kills woman after she leaves her wrecked car on US 77 near Lyford

LYFORD, TX – A woman died after she exited her wrecked vehicle and was struck by another driver on US 77 near Lyford Sunday, according to Valley Central.

Keila Nayely Oviedo, 29, was driving a Buick Lacrosse on US 77 when she strayed off the road and collided with a guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to spin and come to rest in the center lane.

The driver of a Chevrolet Malibu hit Oviedo when she exited her vehicle. The Malibu driver left his vehicle to check on Oviedo and then jumped off the road to avoid being hit by a vehicle.

Rescue crews transported the Malibu Driver and Oviedo to an area hospital, where Oviedo later died.

The incident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
