Rio Grande City man killed in Starr County crash

LAREDO, TX – Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety have released the identity of a man killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning.

According to Valley Central, the accident was reported just before 9 a.m. near the Exxon parking lot along US 83 near the intersection with FM-649.

Investigators believe 41-year-old Carlo Edward Marks, from Rio Grande City, lost control of his Ford F-150 and careened off the roadway and into a utility pole. He was rushed to Starr County Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

It is still unclear what caused Markes to lose control of his vehicle at this time.
