Update: Drunk Driver Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

SAN ANTONIO, TX — A woman who caused a drunk driving accident in 2018 has been sentenced to six years in prison.

The incident in question occurred in 2018 near the 6500 block of Loop 1604. According to KSAT, Rosalinda Olalde was driving drunk at high speeds when she lost control of her vehicle. The car then drove onto the sidewalk and hit another vehicle on the driver’s side. The other driver, Mario Velasquez-Palau (22) was killed by the collision. The crash also severely injured 4 other passengers in Palau’s vehicle.

Authorities gave Olalde a DWI and brought her up on charges of intoxication manslaughter. A judge convicted Olalde of these charges on Wednesday. Many lives were affected as a result of her actions and the jury saw fit to seek out harsher sentencing than her lawyer had asked for.

Our thoughts are with the Velasquez-Palau family at this time.
