Suspect Dies After Leading San Antonio Police on Chase, Crashing into Wooded Area

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A San Antonio man died as the result of a high-speed chase and crash northeast of downtown Sunday afternoon.

According to KSAT, an officer witnessed a gray Honda run through a red light within the 15000 block of Toepperwein Road. When he began to follow the driver, the individual sped up in an attempt to flee.

Officials say the driver was traveling westbound on Toepperwein Rd. when he lost control of his vehicle at a hill and careened into a residential fence and a copse of live oaks.

Firefighters worked to free the man from the wreckage. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His identity is being withheld pending further investigation and notification of family members.
