Teen pulls man from flaming car along Corpus Christi highway

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A 17-year-old high school student is being hailed as a hero after pulling an unconscious man from a burning vehicle early last Friday morning.

According to KIII, Teddy Herrera along with his mother and girlfriend were traveling home from Thanksgiving gathering around 2 a.m. when they spotted a vehicle on fire along Highway 181.

While Herrera’s mother called 911, he approached the vehicle and noticed the unconscious driver inside. He was able to pull the driver from the vehicle just before it exploded.

The unidentified driver was taken to a local hospital where they are expected to recover.

No further information with regard to the cause of the initial crash has been released at this time.
