4 hospitalized, including infant, after south San Antonio crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Four people, including a child less than 1-year-old, were rushed to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on San Antonio’s south side last Friday night.

According to KENS, two pickup trucks collided in the area of Zarzamora Street and I-35. One of the drivers attempted to flee the scene, causing the other to chase them down.

Moments later, the driver fleeing the first crash in their Dodge pickup collided with the rear of a black Honda Element. The Honda then spun out before crashing head-on with an active ambulance near the intersection with Gaddis Boulevard.

Two paramedics, along with a mother and infant child in the Honda, were taken to University Hospital for treatment.

The driver responsible for both crashes attempted to flee again after the second. He soon after crashed into a nearby backyard and was taken into custody on DWI and reckless driving charges.
