BROWNSVILLE, TX – An alleged drunk driver struck and injured another driver on the 300 block of Bowie Friday, KRGV reports.
Ricardo Gonzalez Jr., 21, was driving a Chevrolet Equinox when it collided with a Toyota Corolla. Gonzalez attempted to flee the scene but was physically restrained by multiple bystanders.
Police at the scene say they smelled alcohol on Gonzalez’s breath and found narcotics on his person. Gonzalez resisted arrest as the officer was trying to put him in the police car.
Gonzalez has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, and intoxication assault. His bail has been set at $17,000.
It is unclear if the incident happened on Bowie Rd or Bowie Dr. The exact time the car crash happened is also unknown.
