Big rig crashes after brakes fail on I-10 in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Police and fire crews in east San Antonio were called to the scene of a big rig crash along I-10 Saturday afternoon.

According to Fox 29 San Antonio, the accident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. along I-10 near the Roosevelt Avenue overpass.

Police say the driver smelled something and pulled over before hearing a loud popping sound. When she opened the cab, she noticed a fire which had become uncontrollable by that time.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to the trailer, which was carrying bottles of alcohol.

No injuries were reported as a direct result of the crash.
