Corpus Christi mother returns home after losing legs in September hit-and-run crash

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – After losing both of her legs as the result of a late September hit-and-run accident, a Corpus Christi mother has been released from the hospital.

According to KIIITV, the accident occurred on September 29th near the intersection of 19th Street and Mary Street when 32-year-old Nikki Barrera Garza was struck by the driver of a white van while tending to her broken-down car. Garza was pinned between the van and her vehicle when the driver backed away and sped off.

The van was found abandoned a short time later. No arrests have been made in connection to the case at this time.
