Dozens without a home after West San Antonio apartment fire

SAN ANTONIO, TX – About 25 residents were displaced after a fire at a west San Antonio apartment complex early Friday morning.

According to KSAT, firefighters were called to the Candleridge Apartments at about midnight. The complex is located within the 7900 block of West Military Drive.

Crews arrived to discover heavy flames coming from the bottom two floors. The stairs leading up to the complex were also in flames, forcing them to work entirely by climbing ladders and entering through the windows.

Fire investigators believe one resident had been cooking and then left their unit, leaving the kitchen unattended. A fire broke out and eventually spread to three other units.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze at this time.
