DPS trooper pulls 22-year-old driver from burning vehicle on I-69C

EDINBURG, TX – A 22-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after being pulled from a burning vehicle on I-69C on Sunday morning.

According to KGRV, the accident took place at about 4:20 a.m. near the exit to University Drive.

A DPS trooper was patrolling the freeway when he noticed the burning truck on the side of the roadway. He jumped into action, pulling the man from his vehicle.

The driver, Gerardo Avila, 22, was hospitalized with third-degree burns to his upper body. No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
