SAN MARCOS, TX – Police in San Marcos have reported a single fatality after a pedestrian was struck by an 18-wheeler along I-35 on New Year’s Day.
According to KXAN, the accident occurred along the interstate near Texas Loop 82 shortly after midnight on January 1st.
Dash camera video from the tractor-trailer shows 19-year-old Cael Ryan Uzuanis running into the lanes of traffic before the truck driver could veer out of the way. Uzuanis was pronounced deceased at the scene around 12:30 a.m.
Since the collision occurred before midnight, it has been reported as the 16th traffic death in 2020.
