Driver charged in connection to north San Antonio pedestrian accident

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A woman is recovering in the hospital after being struck by a suspected drunk driver near downtown San Antonio on Sunday night.

According to KSAT, the pedestrian, a 34-year-old woman, was struck at about 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of North Alamo Street and 8th Street.

Police say the woman was attempting to cross outside of the designated crosswalk with two men when she was hit. The driver, a 21-year-old man, immediately stopped at the scene.

The woman was taken to Brook Army Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening head injury.

The driver was taken into custody after he was found to be intoxicated. No word on what charges he will face has been released.
