Driver facing charges in connection fatal Hidalgo County crash

CITRUS CITY, TX – The driver of a pickup truck may be facing charges in connection to a collision that injured four people and killed one last Friday.

According to KURV, the accident occurred when the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and through a stop sign along Washington Palm Drive and struck a 22-year-old female pedestrian. The truck then skidded out of control and rolled over before ejecting four passengers.

One of the passengers, 24-year-old Marco Mendoza, was killed as a result of the crash. The other four, including the woman, were hospitalized in stable condition. No further information with regard to their identities has been released.
