Driver fatally collides with tree on FM 1015

WESLACO, TX – According to Valley Central, a woman died after crashing into a tree on FM 1015 south of Mile 5 N Rd early Monday morning.

Elizabeth Romo Mendoza, 46, was speeding on FM 1015 when she lost control of her vehicle and slammed into a tree. The collision trapped Mendoza in her car with significant injuries.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the crash site around 3:30 a.m. They extricated the woman from her vehicle and then pronounced her dead.

The incident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
