Driver flees on foot following high speed chase, crash in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Police in Corpus Christi have a suspect in custody following a high-speed chase and subsequent crash Tuesday morning.

According to KRIS, the chase began at about 11 a.m., when officers attempted to stop the unidentified suspect for expired registration near the Corbin Town Homes.

The driver sped up in an attempt to flee police, leading them on a chase that would reach speeds up to 90 mph. He then crashed into a fence near the intersection of Gollihar Road and Nicholson Street before fleeing on foot.

After a half-hour search, the suspect was located at a nearby home and taken into custody. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries immediately after.

One officer was involved in a collision during the pursuit but was unhurt. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
