Driver hospitalized after crashing into Corpus Christi river

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A man was taken to the hospital after his vehicle crashed into a river off of I-37 in Corpus Christi on Tuesday afternoon, KIII reports.

The crash took place at about 2 p.m. when the unidentified male driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed off of the interstate into the water near Labonte Park.

The vehicle quickly became completely submerged in the water. Luckily, bystanders jumped into action to pull the man to shore.

Once the man was safely pulled out of the embankment, he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
