Driver injured in La Joya crash

LA JOYA, TX – According to Valley Central, one person was hurt in a single-vehicle collision Sunday.

An off-duty Border Patrol Agent came across the accident and found the driver to be unconscious. The agent performed a sternum rub to return the driver to consciousness.

While helping the driver, the agent realized there was a fire under the vehicle’s hood. He used a fire extinguisher to snuff out the flames before they could spread to the rest of the car.

After putting out the fire, the agent removed the driver from the car and performed first aid until the La Joya Fire Department arrived.
