Driver killed following high-speed crash involving tanker truck

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Officials with the San Antonio Police Department have released the identity of the man killed in a collision involving a gasoline tanker early Wednesday morning.

According to KENS, the accident occurred when the driver of the tanker pulled out of the Nu-Star Energy South Terminal on South Roosevelt Street and was struck by a speeding pickup truck around 1 a.m.

The driver of the pickup truck, 44-year-old Angel Baltazar, was rushed to a local hospital where he died a short time later. The driver of the tanker was uninjured in the crash.

It is still unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
