Driver pinned after striking active ambulance in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Emergency crews worked to free multiple people after a driver collided with an ambulance carrying a patient early Wednesday morning.

According to KENS, the collision occurred at about 1 a.m. within the intersection of Babcock Road and Wurzbach Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle had crashed into an ambulance at a high rate of speed causing the driver to be pinned inside. Crews worked for just under a half-hour to free the driver, who has been identified only as a man in his 20s.

Firefighters were able to move the vehicle out of the path of the ambulance so the patient could be safely moved to a different ambulance

The driver responsible as well as another ambulance worker was also taken to University Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the wreck.
