Hydroplane crash kills passenger, injures 3 others on Hwy 37 north of George West

GEORGE WEST, TX – A woman died and three other people were hurt following a hydroplane crash on Hwy 37, 13 miles north of George West on November 21st, Yahoo reports.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver was speeding in wet road conditions when he hydroplaned off-road and struck a tree with the passenger side door.

First responders were called to the wreck around 4:50 p.m. They pronounced Ruth Arellano Enriquez dead at the scene. The driver, a five-year-old boy, and another woman were treated for injuries. It is unclear if they were treated at the scene or an area hospital.

The incident is under investigation by DPS.
