LA PORTE, TX – A chemical plant leak in La Porte left two people dead and seven injured on Tuesday night, KRIS TV reports.
The leak occurred at the LyondellBasell facility in La Porte around 7:35 p.m. An acetic acid leak caused two people to suffer fatal injuries and seven others to be afflicted with burns, two of which required hospitalization.
Authorities are working with officials from LyondellBasell to ensure all employees are accounted for and monitoring exposed people for symptoms.
No information is available on the cause of the leak at this time.
