Man arrested in fatal Aransas Pass cycling collision

ARANSAS PASS, TX – Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal July 24 crash with a cyclist, KIII reports.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Goodnight Avenue and Commercial Street at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24. A white Chevrolet pickup swerved off the road and onto the sidewalk, striking 49-year-old Christopher Borden as he was walking alongside his bicycle. Borden was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time, 31-year-old Heather Dean told police that she was driving the truck when the collision occurred. However, police have since determined that Dean’s 52-year-old husband, William Dysarz, was behind the wheel, and that Dean had given them a false statement.

Dysarz was arrested on August 1. Further charges may be pending.
