Man killed in accident involving a van in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, TX – A 26-year-old man was killed in a car accident Saturday night in New Braunfels, reports KSAT12.

The accident took place on North Business I-35 around 10:40 p.m.

According to the authorities, 26-year-old Michael John Maraist missed a turn in the I-35 service road, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and enter the oncoming lanes of traffic on North Business I-35.

His Ford Focus then hit a Ford van carrying six passengers. Maraist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The van’s passengers were all taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
