Man killed in semi accident in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, TX – Authorities are investigating a fatal collision that occurred early Sunday morning, killing one and sending four to the hospital.

KRVG reports that the crash occurred on State Highway 4 near its intersection with LBJ Boulevard at 4:18 a.m. on June 7, when a white GMC Sierra pickup truck slammed into the back of a semi truck which had reversed onto the grass portion of the highway. Carlos Javier Venegas, the 36-year-old driver of the GMC, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four female passengers were taken to Valley Baptist Hospital for treatment.

No further details on their condition are available.

DPS officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
