Mother Charged with Intoxicated Assault after Collision Severely Injures Child

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A three-month-old child is recovering in the hospital in serious condition following a suspected drunk driving collision caused by his 24-year-old mother early Monday morning.

According to KSAT, the accident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. along I-10 near the exit to Roland Road.

Witnesses say the SUV was traveling on the shoulder of the freeway when the vehicle darted across the interstate and collided with a concrete barrier.

Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics pulled the baby from the SUV and rushed them to the hospital to be treated for a severe head injury sustained in the collision.

The mother was arrested and charged with a number of felony offenses. She was booked into the Bexar County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
