On-duty Texas DPS special agent killed in traffic accident in Eagle Pass

EAGLE PASS, TX – A Texas Department of Public Safety special agent has died of the result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred while he was assisting US Border Control agents, KSAT reports.

Special Agent Anthony Salas, 37, was on duty when he was involved in a traffic accident near Eagle Pass. No other details about the collision are available at this time.

Salas was rushed to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center and subsequently airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio, where he died late Saturday morning.

Six other people were also injured in the crash, although they do not appear to have been seriously hurt.
