Police use helicopter to search for armed robbery suspect after crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A police chase ended in a crash and helicopter search near Medical Drive on Tuesday morning, according to KSAT News.

Authorities originally responded to a call about an armed robbery at a Walmart on DeZavala Road and another store on Wurzback Road around 9 a.m. They pursued suspects who were driving in a stolen black pickup truck, but backed off when the suspect began driving erratically.

Police soon caught up with the vehicle, and the driver exited the vehicle and ran away on foot. The passenger attempted to maintain control of the truck but drove into an officer’s vehicle and a parked pickup. Finally, a wheel came off the suspect’s truck and police were able to apprehend the passenger.

A police helicopter was employed in the search. Two men were taken into custody matching the suspects’ description and are being questioned.

The incident is still under investigation and the suspects could face charges for armed robbery, assault of a police officer, and evading arrest.
