Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway reopens following closure due to a bomb threat

PORT ISABEL, TX – According to KRGV, the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway has reopened following a closure due to a bomb threat.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department received a call last night claiming that an explosive device had been rigged to detonate on the bridge. Bomb inspectors investigated and found no such device.

The threat came 19 years to the day after the bridge collapsed in 2001, killing eight people.
