SAPD officers rescue 2 people from burning vehicle

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Two people were pulled from a flaming vehicle by SAPD officers after a serious collision Monday night.

According to KENS, the accident took place around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Callaghan Road and Culebra Road.

Police say the northwest San Antonio collision occurred when an SUV was traveling south on Callaghan and was clipped by an unspecified vehicle traveling north. The SUV then skidded off the road and crashed into a nearby fence before catching fire.

Officers jumped into action quickly knocking down the fire with department-issued fire extinguishers and pulling the male and female occupants out. The victims were transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash.

It is still unclear what happened to the second vehicle involved. However, no serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
